Applications for the Night-Time Economy Pilot Programme are now open

I want to welcome the launch of the Night-Time Economy Pilot Programme.

The programme follows on from a recommendation of the Report of the Night-Time Economy Taskforce and involves the appointment of Night-Time Economy Advisors in six towns and cities across Ireland.

Applications for the Night-Time Economy Pilot Programme are now open. This is an important initiative which will revitalise the night-time economy following the Covid-19 pandemic and create new opportunities for audiences, venues, businesses and performers. A Night-Time Economy Advisor will be appointed to liaise between the local authority and community representatives and assist the development of an action plan for the Night-Time Economy in each of the six towns and cities selected for the programme.

It is very welcome that both Laois County Council and Offaly County Council will have the opportunity to submit an application to the Night-Time Economy Pilot Programme and I have written to both Council's to lend my support to their applications. I am also happy to meet with local residents and representatives from the arts sector to discuss proposals to promote the Night-Time Economy in the Midlands.

This process is led by the City and County Managers Association (CCMA) and the final date for applications is June 24th, 2022.

Yhe Midlands is at the heart of the arts and culture sector in Ireland, and I believe that there is strong potential to develop a thriving, sustainable and vibrant night-time economy in Laois and Offaly.
