International Protection Strand of the Regularisation Scheme

A woman stands on the left and a man (with his back to camera) on the right. They are looking at a map of the world on a wall.
In a Laois Direct Provision Centre with my colleague Minister O'Gorman. We are looking at all of the countries where residents have come from.

In February my Government colleague, Minister Helen McEntee opened the international protection strand of the regularisation scheme for long-term undocumented migrants.

This is a separate strand to the Scheme for long-term undocumented migrants specifically designed for those who have applied for International Protection, including those living in Direct Provision and who meet certain eligibility criteria. This Strand is open until 7th August.

I am delighted with the news this week that the first positive decisions have been granted under the 2 strands.

I have received some enquiries about the scheme and am sharing the resources I am aware of.

All of the details and eligibility for the scheme can be found here

National Non Governmental Organisations offering assistance with applications include:

The Department of Justice FAQ page is here It is not specific to the International Protection Scheme but does include Questions and Answers on the IP Strand and in a number of languages.

There in an instructional video by the Department of Justice. Again it is not specific to the IP strand of the scheme but is still useful on the logistics of filling out the form.

I am aware of local NGO's supporting applicants - if you would like more information or to be put in touch please email me on pippa.hackett@oireachtas.ie
